OUR TEACHING METHOD

Swim Belts

Swim belts go around the middle of the torso, allowing full use of the arms and legs. This enables your child to learn buoyancy and how to travel confidently through the water.

They are not flotation aids like arm bands or rings and should only be used under trained, supervised teaching. Initially, pupils develop buoyancy, flotation, travelling through the water and jumping-in skills, helping them to become increasingly independent in both shallow and deep water with the aid of a swim belt.

DEVELOPING STRONG SWIMMERS

Equipment & Progression

By the achievement of Stage 4, your child will have developed basic water skills and basic stroke technique without a swim belt, swimming widths confidently on both their front and back in the middle of the pool.

At Stage 5, we begin to build further on technique before developing stamina and strength. Children also learn additional water skills, such as roly-polys, as they continue progressing towards more advanced and competitive swimming techniques.
